Zhone Technologies to power FTTH Deployment of Green Hills Telephone

Zhone Technologies, a provider of FTTx
network access solutions, announced the addition of Green Hills Telephone
Corporation as a new customer for its FTTX solutions.

Green Hills Telephone Corporation, Missouri
based service provider, will deploy Zhone’s MXK for its greenfield fiber
point-to-point (P2P) Active Ethernet (AE) and xDSL network to enable triple
play services for local residences and businesses.

The capabilities of Zhone’s MXK platform
benefits both Green Hills Telephone and its subscribers, through utilization of
up to one gigabit (1GB) capacity in the home and the ability to support
multiple high-definition television (HDTV) channels, high-definition digital
video recorder (HD-DVR) content, video streaming and a host of other value-add
services (VAS).

The scalability of the Zhone MXK and its
ability to provide intelligent Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON), AE and
xDSL connectivity facilitates network and service upgrades to FTTH. It also
reduces recurring operating expenses (OPEX) and any adverse customer impact
from rollout and provisioning of these next-generation services.

“With the rapid growth of content and
advanced applications, our customers demand more and more bandwidth,” said
Steve Gann, general manager at Green Hills Telephone Corporation.

The MXK’s feature set aligns well with
Green Hill’s specific field requirements, enabling Zhone to provide optimum
cost efficiency and maximum service differentiation in the operator’s network.
The service provider is also deploying Zhone’s zNID Active Ethernet Optical
Network Terminals (ONTs) for its end-points.

“Green Hills, like many other
independent service providers, has tapped into the many benefits the MXK offers
as an integrated multi-service platform,” said Brian Caskey, chief
marketing officer for Zhone.
