ZTE bags cloud computing contracts from China Telecom

Telecom Lead Asia: ZTE has bagged cloud computing services contracts from China Telecom.

ZTE was awarded contracts to provide cloud desktop system and server virtualization software to China Telecom.

ZTE developed its iECS server virtualization software and iRAI cloud desktop system, and owns the intellectual property. iECS combines the ZEN and KVM virtualization engines with ZTE’s operating system technology and management software to provide comprehensive virtualization capabilities, while iRAI supports data traffic redirection and virtual applications, providing reliable virtual connectivity. The desktop cloud system supports multiple desktops for a single user, and is compatible with most mainstream terminals.

China Telecom and ZTE have been long-term partners in research and development of cloud computing technologies. ZTE contributed to the standardization and planning of China Telecom’s cloud computing technologies, including PASS, and the two companies are collaborating to develop cloud computing standards under the direction of ITU-T.

For telecommunication operators, cloud computing represents an important opportunity – computing technologies will help operators build networks that are optimized for serving users with applications. China Telecom has a strong network operation with a big customer base, and is able to combine computing capabilities and information storage to provide ubiquitous cloud services.

In cloud computing segment, ZTE has released the CoCLoud system, the iECS virtualization software product, the iRAI virtual desktop product, the iROS cloud computing management platform, the iBOX cloud terminal device, and the cloud storage product CSS2000.

In 2012, ZTE rolled out the USapphire product for data centers, driving the adoption of cloud computing services in the public sector and enterprises. Apart from providing cloud computing products to domestic and international operators, ZTE also plays a role in ITU-T’s cloud computing research groups to promote the industry’s development.
