Airtel Payments Bank today announced free talk time on savings deposits.
Customers will get one minute of talk time on their Airtel mobile number for every rupee deposited in a Airtel Payments Bank savings account. Airtel customers can make calls to other Airtel customers.
Anyone can become an account holder of Airtel Bank.
If a customer opens an account with a deposit of Rs 1,000 then customer will get 1,000 minutes of free talk time on Airtel mobile number. Airtel said the validity of the free talk time will be 30 days. Customers can make local and STD calls by utilizing the talk time. Airtel did not reveal about the possible national roaming charges.
Airtel Payments Bank offers interest rate of 7.25 percent per year on savings accounts deposits, the highest in India.
A customer’s Airtel mobile number will be the bank account number of the customer.
Airtel Payments Bank is aiming to enroll over one lakh merchants in Rajasthan by the year-end, who will not be charged anything for accepting digital payments from Airtel Payments Bank customers.
These shops in Rajasthan will be accepting digital payments from Airtel Payments Bank for cashless purchase of goods / services using their bank accounts / wallets.
Customers in towns and villages across Rajasthan will now be able to open bank accounts at Airtel retail outlets, which will also act as Airtel banking points and offer basic banking services. Airtel Bank will commence the pilot with banking points at 10,000 Airtel retail outlets.

Airtel Bank customers are already getting Personal Accidental Insurance of Rs 1 lakh with every Savings Account.
