Airtel mobile data revenue up 74% boosts 13% increase in Q1 sales

Bharti Airtel today said 73.9 percent increase in mobile data revenue to Rs 2,204 crore supported 13.3 percent increase in Q1 income in FY 2014-15 to Rs 22,962 crore.

Customer base grew 9.1 percent to 299.9 million in across 20 countries.

India & South Asia (India SA) revenue increased 11.8%; while Africa revenue enhanced 17.5%.

Net income rose 60.9 percent to Rs 1,108 crore.

Mobile data revenues at Rs 2,204 crore contributes more than one-third of the incremental revenues.

INDIA

India SA revenues rose 11.8 percent.

Airtel India revenue increased 9.9 percent.

Telemedia Services rose 12.9 percent.

Airtel Digital TV revenue increased 20.7 percent.

Airtel business grew 14.8 percent in India and 11.7 percent in South Asia.

Mobile voice realisation in India improved to 38.08 p per minute (up 1.49 p).

Airtel mobile data revenue rose 68.2 percent to Rs 1,559 crore.

Mobile data revenues contribute to 12.4 percent of mobile India revenues against 8.2 percent in the corresponding quarter last year.

AFRICA

Africa revenues grew 17.5 percent.

Data revenues of $102 million contributed 8.8 percent of overall Africa revenues against 5.3 percent in the corresponding quarter last year.

Data ARPU increased to $1.50 from $1.23 in same quarter last year, enabled by 36.7 percent increase in data usage per customer.

Airtel Money customers rose 222 to 4.3 million.
