Apache selects tw telecom to build business ethernet network

tw telecom, a provider of managed services,
announced that Apache has selected it to provide a fully-meshed, 10Gbps,
multipoint Business Ethernet network that will enable the company to securely
transfer massive data files among its locations in Tulsa Okla., and Houston and
Midland, Texas.

“Apache’s oil and gas exploration and
production activities rely on data-intensive technology, such as 3-D seismic
visualization and advanced modeling programs,” said Aaron Merrick,
Apache‘s vice president – information technology.

Business Ethernet has emerged as the WAN
connectivity method of choice for enterprises that need to share data,
bandwidth-intense applications, and network resources between their locations.

tw telecom’s multipoint Business Ethernet
services allow businesses to take advantage of the same Ethernet technology
they use in their Local Area Networks and extend it to both their Wide Area and
Metropolitan Area Networks.  tw telecom’s Business Ethernet service offers
connectivity from 2 Mbps to 10 Gbps, with a class-of-service option that
enables customers to prioritize traffic based on their unique needs.

“Apache is one of the world’s top
independent oil and gas exploration and production companies,” said Darin
Cook, vice president and general manager for tw telecom’s Houston market.

tw telecom connects more commercial
buildings to its resilient, fiber network than any other competitive
communications provider.  It has the third highest market share of retail
Ethernet ports in service.

With its own metro fiber networks and one
of the ten most interconnected IP backbones in the world, tw telecom has the
national capability, robust product portfolio and national/local customer care
teams to support mission critical enterprise applications and to deliver the
most sought after customer experience in the industry.
