Bharti Airtel cuts 3G mobile data services rate

Telecom Lead India: Mobile operator Bharti
Airtel has announced substantial reduction in 3G tariffs for Indian customers.

The reduction in tariffs under some plan is around 70 percent.
The substantial reduction in 3G data rate is aimed at increasing usage of the
premium data services in the country.

Bharti and its rivals in the country started 3G services
last year after spending a total more than $12 billion to buy airwaves in an
auction, according to Reuters.

But take-off of the services, which allow faster Internet on
phones and video calls, has been slower than expected, partly due to high
prices.

Airtel has also introduced Smartbytes additional data usage
packs for its postpaid Airtel mobile customers on 3G.

MTNL
introduces new 3G data plans in Mumbai

Recently, MTNL has come up
with more affordable high speed 3G mobile broadband connectivity in Mumbai. The
service operator has introduced two new 3G Data Plans of Rs.1190 and Rs.1200
for all prepaid and postpaid customers in Mumbai.

MTNL has also introduced new Monthly 3G
Data
Plan-1200 for Prepaid and Postpaid customers
for Rs.1200, which provides 15 GB 3G Data usage per month.

Bharti Airtel claims that it is
the first in the market to offer customers with the choice of subscribing to
incremental 3G data usage packs.

Airtel 3G Smartbytes enables postpaid mobile
customers to enjoy uninterrupted access to high speed browsing on their mobile
devices even after exhausting their monthly data limits.

The 3G Smartbytes additional data usage
packs are available in a range of predetermined price options that allow Airtel
3G customers to choose a plan that suits their needs, while avoiding any bill
shocks.

With all new price plans
and the launch of Smartbytes for 3G, Airtel continues to focus on offering
customers a gamut of options (across 2G, 3G, DSL and now 4G) towards
accelerating and driving the adoption of data services in India.
