Bharti Airtel to launch national MNP

Bharti Airtel today announced that it is ready to launch national Mobile Number Portability (MNP).

The telecom operator in a statement said it also introduced many firsts including faster processing of porting requests, free incoming on roaming, balance transfers and carry forward options.

Mobile customers spread across the country can easily shift between states without changing their mobile number.

Customers on Airtel can benefit from special offers like requests for porting within Airtel’s network being processed within 24 hours and free incoming on roaming once they raise a number portability request until it is processed.

MNP enables telecom operators to take on rivals by offering best deals and network quality. Airtel competes with large telecoms such as Vodafone, Idea Cellular, Reliance Communications, Tata Docomo, Aircel, BSNL, etc. A full fledged MNP campaign from Airtel will pose challenges to both large telecoms and regional players such as Uninor, MTS, MTNL and Videocon Telecom.

Bharti Airtel customers can avail the option of transferring their balance in prepaid or carrying forward their unbilled/billed amount in the case of postpaid while porting their number to the new city.

“To facilitate a seamless MNP transition we will also allow our customers to enjoy free incoming on roaming while their number portability request is being processed,” said Ajai Puri, director – Market Operations of Bharti Airtel.

Customers can call Airtel on 1800-103-111 or log on to www.airtel.in for more details or visit the nearest Airtel retail outlets to get advice on MNP process.
