Bytemobile and China Comservice form JV to drive mobile data traffic management opportunities

Bytemobile, a provider of video optimization and Smart
Capacity solutions for mobile network operators, and China Communications Services,
China’s integrated services provider for the telecom sector, announced the
formation of a joint venture to address opportunities in the network
optimization market in China.

The new company will provide traffic management and data
optimization solutions and services to operators throughout the country.

According to recent industry market forecasts, operators in
China will soon experience strong mobile growth toward one billion subscribers.
China will have a rapidly growing market for 3G services and begin LTE trials
and introduce locally developed handsets to rival the Apple iPhone. There will
be a shift toward increasingly data-intensive applications such as video.

“The need to address next-generation mobile networks
and the rapid adoption of high-bandwidth data services has generated growing
demand for network efficiency tools such as video and web optimization in
China,” said Li Ping, chairman of China Comservice.

The joint venture will commence operations after receiving
Chinese government approval, expected later this year.

Mobile video content consumed between 40 percent and 60
percent of wireless network data traffic during the third quarter of 2011,
according  to
new data issued by mobile web solutions provider Bytemobile. Subscriber demand
for video remains the biggest demand facing network bandwidth allocation,
Bytemobile adds, especially as consumers demand higher resolution content.

To date, Bytemobile solutions have been deployed in the
networks of more than 130 operators in over 60 countries,” said Hatim
Tyabji, chairman and chief executive officer of Bytemobile.

“We have had a market footprint in China for more than
seven years, with deployments at the provincial operating companies of China
Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom, and our own research and development
center in Beijing. Together with China Comservice, we are well positioned to continue
broadening and deepening our leadership in the region,” Tyabji added.
