Globe Telecom eyes growth in postpaid business, offers smartphone with affordable plans

Telecom Lead Asia: Aiming growth in its postpaid and
mobile data businesses, Globe Telecom has expanded its line-up of smartphone
devices under its suite of unlimited data plans.

 

Globe introduced the Samsung Galaxy S III for as
low as P1699 monthly under Unli Surf Combo 999 with P700 monthly cashout.

 

In May, the teleco added Nokia Lumia 800 to its
smartphone range and offers it free with Unli Surf Combo 1799 complete
plan that offers unlimited mobile surfing, P800 monthly consumable amount
for calls and texts, and 3 text, call and surf freebies that can be changed
monthly.

 

 Additionally, the company introduced the BlackBerry
Curve 9220 and BlackBerry Curve 9320 smartphones.  The BlackBerry Curve
9220 isa vailable with with My Super Plan 499 plus and the BlackBerry Curve
9320 comes free at My Super Plan BlackBerry Unli Surf Combo Plan 999.

 

With the continued rise in smartphone and mobile data
use in the Philippines, Globe is taking advantage of this trend by offering a
complete line-up of devices and handsets that cater to the different market
segments of our growing postpaid subscriber base,” said Martha Sazon, Head of
Globe Postpaid.

 

Globe Telecom postpaid subscriber base up 34% in Q1 FY12

 

Globe Telecom’s postpaid subscriber share grew 34 percent
y-o-y to reach 43 percent in the overall postpaid market, mainly driven by the
take-up of the telco’s fully-customizable plans that continue to attract new
and old subscribers.

 

Globe offers the widest selection of handsets under its
roster of postpaid plans, offering the latest Android devices for free for as
low as Plan 299.

 

The teleco plans to roll out 10,000 kilometers of
additional fiber optic lines in the implementation of LTE technology that will
bring high-speed data to mobile phones and other data terminals.
