Nokia ex-director Chakrapani to join Microsoft as head of consumer channels group in India


Microsoft India announced the appointment
of Chakrapani GK as the head of Consumer Channels Group (CCG), India.


The group will operationally consolidate
all of Microsoft’s consumer products and channels across retail, operator
channels and OEMs.


“At Microsoft we are focused on three sets
of customers: Businesses, Advertisers and Consumers. And today in the consumer
space with Windows Phone, Windows 7, XBox, Kinect and Microsoft Office, we have
a very exciting set of offerings and committed channels to reach them.
Chakrapani brings with him extensive experience in the ICT industry and deep
understanding of how to create scale in an emerging market. Under his leadership,
we expect to deliver great devices, services and software to the Indian
consumer,” said Bhaskar Pramanik, chairman, Microsoft India.

consumers,” Chakrapani said.


Until recently, Chakrapani was with Nokia
as director for the Mobile Financial Services business, focusing on driving the
Go-To-Market strategy and expansion in Asia after initially establishing the
business in India.


In his previous role with Nokia, Chakrapani
served as country general manager for the Enterprise Solutions Business Unit in
India and led the team to establish the smartphone and Eseries business in
India.


Prior to this, he has held several sales,
marketing and business management roles for large solution providers including
Datacraft (now Dimension Data). Chakrapani has also spent three years as an
entrepreneur founding and managing an ecommerce startup; Office Infinity during
2000-2002.
