Omantel appoints new COO, CFO

Telecom Lead Middle East: Omantel has appointed Samy
Ahmed Al Ghassany as chief operating officer and Talal Said Al Mamari as chief
financial officer.



Omantel leads the market through introduction of innovative products and
diversification into related businesses.



These appointments will bring further momentum to the realization of Omantel
vision and objectives as we continue to lead the market and expand our business
locally and regionally and are in-line with regional and international
benchmarks in the telecom industry,” said Engineer Sultan Bin Hamdoun Al
Harthy  chairman of Omantel board of directors.



Mamari have both played a significant role in Omantel’s evolution and its
leadership position in the market.  These two leaders took part in the
company’s transformation and growth, while holding several senior technical,
commercial and corporate responsibilities with outstanding dedication and
passion for success” said Amer Al Rawas CEO of Omantel.



In his position as the COO, Ghassany will be responsible for commercial and
technical operations of the company. He will be leading the commercial teams
such as marketing, sales and customer care that serve all of Omantel customers
including consumers, businesses and domestic and international telecom service
providers, according to media reports.



Prior to this appointment, Ghassany held the position of VP – integrated
technology unit, and was instrumental in modernizing Omantel’s network with the
next generation switching and IP transmission systems, streamlining network
operations as well as enabling the introduction of a number of innovative
telecommunications services and solutions. 



In his 20 years career at Omantel, Ghassany also held a number of other senior
executive positions in marketing, product development, project management and
corporate governance.



Mamari, in his position as the CFO, will be responsible for driving the
company’s financial strategy for sustaining and growing shareholder value.



Prior to his current appointment, Mamari held the position of VP – Finance. In
this capacity he streamlined the financial operations of the company. In his
20-year career at Omantel, Mamari held a number of other senior executive
positions in finance and was instrumental in developing and implementing
finance function restructuring and played a key role in an IPO and post
implementation transformation.
