Reliance Communications Q2 revenue up 3.7%, profit up 129%

Reliance Communications second quarter revenue increased 3.7 percent to Rs 5,394 crore from Rs 5,202 crore in Q2 previous fiscal. The telecom operator’s net profit enhanced 129.4 percent to Rs 234 crore.

3G subscriber base of Reliance Communications, which announced 3G at 2G prices, increased to 9.1 million in the second quarter.

Reliance Communications, India’s fourth-biggest cellular carrier, said its EBITDA rose 15.2 percent to Rs 1,887 crore. These data excludes provision write back of Rs 441 crore, the company said.

For comparison, Vodafone India revenue increased 13.5 percent to $3.25 billion during the second quarter of fiscal 2014.

Reliance Communications India revenue increased 5.4 percent to Rs 4,624 crore. Its global biz revenue dipped 0.3 percent to Rs 1,143 crore.

RPM increased to 43.4 paisa, up 7.7 percent.

The total MOUs down by 1.7 percent y-o-y at 101.5 billion, due to seasonality, in line with the industry, and reduction of unprofitable traffic.

Reliance Communications ARPU rose 26.3 percent to Rs 120 in Q2.

Data traffic grew 116 percent to 37,570 million MB.

The traffic has increased due to increase in data subscribers and higher data usage per customer.

Data customer base increased 30.8 percent to 34 million including 9.1 million 3G customers in Q2.
