Telecom Lead Asia Pacific: Skyhook, a provider of
location positioning, context and intelligence, announced that Skyhook Location
will be deployed by Japanese mobile operator SoftBank Mobile.

SoftBank Mobile plans to enhance the location accuracy,
availability and power consumption profile of handsets by incorporating
Skyhook’s market-leading Location Engine on new SoftBank phones.

“Accurate location information is becoming increasingly
important on mobile devices. SoftBank Mobile has partnered with Skyhook to
improve location performance for mobile devices,” said Makoto Tatsumi, senior
general manager, Product and Service Division of SoftBank Mobile.

Engine will not only improve the performance but will also reduce power
expenditure and extend battery life.

user experience of SoftBank customers. This milestone represents not only an
expansion of our partnership with SoftBank but also another important step in
Skyhook’s advance into Asian markets,” said Michael Shean, founder and senior
