Both AT&T and Verizon have already announced their 5G mobile network. Verizon added Samsung’s 5G smartphone to its network. But AT&T, the #1 telecom operator, will still be depending on 5G hotspots to work.

T-Mobile said it is continuing the deployment of LTE on 600 MHz and 5G on millimeter wave spectrum using 5G equipment, reaching nearly 3,500 cities and towns in 44 states – covering nearly one million square miles.

“We expect to have the first nationwide 5G mobile network in 2020. We plan to launch our 5G network on 600 MHz as soon as we have compatible smartphones in the second half of this year,” T-Mobile CEO John Legere said.

T-Mobile has a nationwide average of 31 MHz of 600 MHz low band spectrum. T-Mobile cleared 140 million POPs and will clear spectrum covering approximately 280 million POPs by year-end 2019.

T-Mobile continues its aggressive deployment of LTE on 600 MHz spectrum, using 5G ready equipment, with nearly one million square miles already lit up covering nearly 3,500 cities and towns in 44 states and Puerto Rico.

T-Mobile has combined 600 MHz spectrum and 700 MHz spectrum for the deployment of low band spectrum to 304 million POPs. T-Mobile customers can use 40 devices compatible with 600 MHz spectrum, including the latest iPhones.

Bellevue, Washington-based company said it added 656,000 phone subscribers in the first quarter, up from 617,000 additions a year earlier.

That was due to T-Mobile’s lower prices compared to its competitors, as well as an expansion into more rural areas of the United States.

T-Mobile US reported total revenue of $11.080 billion (+6 percent) and service revenue of $8.277 billion (+6 percent) in Q1 2019.

T-Mobile’s total customer base increased to 81.301 million in Q1 2019 as compared with 74.040 million in Q1 2018.

T-Mobiles’ post-paid ARPU decreased 1.3 percent to $46.07, while pre-paid ARPU fell 3.2 percent to $37.65 in Q1 2019.
