Rangu will be responsible for the company’s high growth businesses with an initial portfolio that includes data centre, cloud, cyber security, media and entertainment.

Rangu, who has more than 30 years of experienced, worked with Cisco Systems, Verizon Communications and PwC.

At Cisco he architected and executed a bold strategy that transformed Cisco’s business in India and other emerging markets, with a significant market share gain and accelerated revenue growth.

At Verizon he led the founding and growth of Verizon’s internet and data business into a global leader of business communications provider.

TelecomLead.com reported that Tata Communications’ gross revenues grew to $2.963 billion in FY2012 from $2.618 billion last year. The company posted a higher net loss of Rs 794.65 crore for the fiscal ended March, 2012 as compared to Rs 776.9 crore in the previous fiscal.

The company had spent 9 percent of gross revenues towards Capex in FY 12. Tata Communications’ Core Business revenues were $2.600 billion as compared $2.484 billion for FY2011. Startup revenues improved to $363 million from $134 million in the previous year.
