Telia revenue and Capex drops in Q1 2017

Telecom operator Telia Company posted revenue of SEK 19.252 billion, EBITDA of SEK 6.149 billion, operating income of SEK 3.805 billion, net income of SEK 7.143 billion and Capex of SEK 2.988 billion  in the first quarter of 2017.

Telia Company said its sales fell to SEK 19.252 billion (–5.6 percent) in the first quarter of 2017.

Telia CEO Johan Dennelind said: “Costs in Sweden and Finland were elevated in the quarter, due to short term efforts within customer support, IT and rebranding. We do see cost levels to normalize ahead, especially in the second half of 2017.”

Telia said EBITDA declined 1.1 percent to SEK 6,149 million and EBITDA margin rose to 31.9 percent from 30.5.

Operating income declined 9.4 percent to SEK 3,805 million mainly due to lower contribution from associated companies.

Total net income increased to SEK 6,984 million from SEK 3,766 million.

Capex (capital expenditure) of Telia Company was SEK 2,988 million (–2.5 percent).

Capex to service revenue ratio of Telia Company was 18.1 percent (18.3). Capex excluding license and spectrum fees declined to SEK 2,988 million from SEK 3,064 million. Telia said Capex-to-service revenue ratio, excluding license and spectrum fees, rose to 18.1 percent (17.6).

In Sweden, Telia’s Capex increased to SEK 1,386 million (1,327) and Capex, excluding licenses and spectrum fees increased to SEK 1,386 million (1,327).

In Finland, Telia’s Capex increased to SEK 363 million (362) and Capex excluding licenses and spectrum fees increased to SEK 363 million (362).

In Norway, Telia’s Capex declined to SEK 244 million (304) and Capex excluding licenses and spectrum fees declined to SEK 244 million (304).

In Denmark, Telia’s Capex increased to SEK 114 million (101) and Capex excluding licenses and spectrum fees increased to SEK 114 million (101).

In Lithuania, Telia’s Capex declined to SEK 115 million (208) and Capex excluding licenses and spectrum fees increased to SEK 115 million (75).

In Estonia, Telia’s Capex increased to SEK 98 million (67) and Capex excluding licenses and spectrum fees increased to SEK 98 million (67).
