Verizon’s data-focused pricing plans to restructure the pricing in U.S market: Strategy Analytics

Telecom Lead America: With its innovative data-focused
pricing plans, wireless major Verizon is all set to rule the U.S wireless
market. The telecom major is encashing the surging popularity of smartphones
and use of tablets.

The main idea behind its new data-focused pricing plans
is to provide an account-based structure with shared data among devices.

Strategy Analytics, in its study said that share data
plans that include bundling of voice, text and data will bring Verizon in
commanding position and will restructure the pricing in the U.S market.

The new ‘Shifting the Way We Sell Wireless and the new
Share Everything” plans allow families in the U.S to own multiple devices with
flexible mobile broadband connections at reasonable price.

Verizon will launch new pricing plans through its Share
Everything” on June 28, 2012.

Making data usage levels the main decision for consumers
when they select their mobile plan is a good forerunner to the move to Voice
over LTE (VoLTE), where voice and messaging become part of the data stream.
Setting unlimited voice and messaging as the baseline also protects operator
revenues from bleeding to over-the-top (OTT) voice and messaging services,”
said Phil Kendall, director, Wireless Operator Strategies.

The research firm expects Verizon Wireless will add
the ability to set per device limits on data use, which is a good option for a
traveling parent who may need data for navigation and video chat, and needs to
make sure that the family data cap isn’t wiped out by kids watching videos.

The -Share Everything’ plan approach from Verizon
Wireless is an excellent start to create a structure for a multi-device future
as the connected ecosystem expands,” said Susan Welsh de Grimaldo, director,
Mobile Broadband Opportunities at Strategy Analytics.
