Videocon Telecom plans Rs 1,240 crore investment in FY 2014-15

Indian mobile carrier Videocon Telecom is planning to invest Rs 1,240 crore towards Capex (capital spending) in FY 2014-15.

Videocon Telecom will be investing in its existing 4 telecom circles in network & IT infrastructure and on other technological advancements.

Arvind Bali, director and CEO of Videocon Telecom, said: “We will be investing over 1240 crore in our existing 4 circles in FY 2014-15 primarily on Network expansion, IT infrastructure, Service platforms, and other technological advancements.”

This week, Idea Cellular, one of the rivals of Videocon Telecom, said it would invest Rs 3,500 crore for expanding its telecom infrastructure in India.

Earlier, Videocon Telecom announced that it would launch its 4G LTE services on FD-LTE technology during the current fiscal.

Meanwhile, Videocon Telecom said its Q4 FY 2014 revenue rose 77 percent to Rs 344.5 crore. The Q4 revenue surge was supported by 91 percent growth in its mobile subscriber base that reached 7 million.

Videocon Telecom said the gross rate per minute (GRPM) rose 25 percent. Minutes of usage surged 81 percent.

Its data revenue rose 317 percent. Videocon Telecom does not share its mobile and data ARPU. The company said 38 percent of its mobile subscribers use data. Data revenue contributes 7 percent of gross revenue. The unlisted Videocon Telecom said its profit improved by 24 percent.

The telecoms said it would target revenue and customer market share in India. Its main focus would be to become EBITDA positive in 2 out of its 4 operational circles. Videocon Telecom wants to be the fastest telecom in India to break even.

Videocon Telecom is targeting revenue Rs 2,500 crore in FY 2014-15.
