Vodafone brings AADHAR oriented KYC norms

Vodafone India today said it will offer a new SuperNet SIM connection if the customers know their AADHAR number as part of new verification norms.

Vodafone also need customers fingerprint to confirm the requisite Know Your Customer (KYC) norms to issue a new SIM card to both new prepaid and postpaid connections in India.

Vodafone will issue new SIM cars at its 4,500 plus Vodafone stores and Vodafone mini stores across the country for a new connection.

The new offer will be effective from Wednesday, 24 August, 2016.

Vodafone India had partnered with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to pilot the AADHAR based e-KYC solutions and tested it successfully in two circles.

Sandeep Kataria, director – Commercial, Vodafone India, said: “The use of e-KYC will bring down delays in activating new SIM connections because of infrastructure challenges like power cuts, transporting volumes of paper, lack of photocopying and  photography facilities. It will strengthen the verification process as there will be no room for any manual error.”

Vodafone India has developed a special app that enables retailers to activate customers using e-KYC. Vodafone will roll out the paperless validation and activation facility in all 10,000 plus Vodafone branded stores in urban and rural areas and across all multi brand outlets, in a phased manner.

The telecom operator said e-KYC solution eliminates the need for paper based documentation, which takes time to collate and submit, ensures better confidentiality and privacy of customer information and radically reduces the waiting time for a new connection, leading to an overall superior customer experience.
