Vodafone Q3 financial result analysis based on region

Performance of mobile service provider Vodafone in Q3 2011-12 in Eruope
and Middle East-Africa region was not encouraging. A look at important numbers.

 

Europe

 

For the Europe
region, Vodafone revenue declined by 1.9 percent at 8103 million euro
for the third-quarter against 8259 million euro for the same quarter FY10.

The company’s
full year EBITDA stood at 10823 million euro against 11644 million euro
FY10.Whilst operating profit stood at 5276 million euro against 6351 million
euro FY10.

The total
service revenue for the Europe region stood at 7420 million euro for the
third-quarter against 7657 million euro for the same quarter FY10, declined by
3.1 percent.

For its
Germany operations, its third-quarter service revenue stood at 1919 million
euro against 1915 million euro for the same quarter last year, up by 0.2
percent.

Voice revenue
stood at 763 million euro against 879 million euro in for the same quarter last
year. Messaging revenue was 237 million euro against 208 million euro for the
same quarter last year.

Data revenue
grew to 393 million euro from 322 million euro for the same quarter last year.

For its
Italy’s operations its third-quarter service revenue stood at 1304 million euro
against 1378 million euro for the same quarter last year, reduced by 5.4
percent.

Voice revenue
stood at 722 million euro against 818 million euro for the same quarter last
year. Messaging revenue was 211 million euro against 223 million euro for the
same quarter last year.

Data revenue
dipped to 181 million euro from 156 million euro for the same quarter last
year.

For its
Spain’s operations its third-quarter service revenue stood at 1061 million euro
against 1170 million euro for the same quarter last year, reduced by 9.3
percent.

Voice revenue
stood at 696 million euro against 825 million euro for the same quarter last
year. Messaging revenue was 74 million euro against 89 million euro for the
same quarter last year.

Data revenue
grew to 165 million euro from 130 million euro for the same quarter last year.

For its UK’s
operations its third-quarter service revenue stood at 1267 million euro against
1260 million euro for the same quarter last year, up by 0.6 percent.

Voice revenue
stood at 609 million euro against 645million euro for the same quarter last year.
Messaging revenue was 326 million euro against 297 million euro for the same
quarter last year.

Data revenue
increased to 220 million euro from 195 million euro for the same quarter last
year.

For its
Turkey’s operations its third-quarter service revenue stood at 383 million euro
against 416 million euro in the last quarter ended September 30, 2011.

Voice revenue
stood at 274 million euro against 288 million euro in the last quarter ended
September 30, 2011. Messaging revenue was 56 million euro against 59 million
euro in the last quarter.

Data revenue
increased to 33 million euro from 31 million euro in the earlier quarter.

For its other
Europe services its third-quarter service revenue stood at 1903 million euro
against 1990 million euro for the same quarter last year, dipped by 4.4
percent.

Other Europe
services nations include Greece, Ireland, Czech, Netherlands, Portugal and
Romania.

In
Europe Vodafone’s subscribers touched 149,925 mark out of which 61.4
percent churn is of prepaid users.

 

Africa,
Middle East and Asia Pacific

 

In African,
Asia and Middle East region, the carrier’s revenue declined by 0.6 percent at
3470 million euro for the third-quarter ended December 31, 2011 against 3491
million euro for the corresponding quarter last year.

Vodafone’s
service revenue stood at 3161 million euro for the third-quarter against 3210
million euro for the same quarter FY10.

For its
Vodacom’s operations its third-quarter service revenue stood at 1222 million
euro against 1293 for the corresponding quarter last year.

Voice revenue
stood at 862 million euro against 938 million euro for the same quarter last
year. Messaging revenue was 70 million euro against 64 million euro for the
same quarter last year.

Data revenue
increased to 164 million euro from 166 million euro for the same quarter last
year.

In Africa,
Middle East and Asia Pacific, Vodacom’s subscriber base touched 52,927 out of
which 89.2 percent churn is of prepaid users.

In remaining
Africa, Middle East operations subscriber base touched 47,527 out of which 87.3
percent churn is of prepaid users.

The company’s
full year EBITDA for AMEA stood at 3999 million euro against 3312 million euro
FY10.Whilst operating profit stood at 1272 million euro against 818 million
euro FY10.

 

Vodafone India posts 6.3% increase
in Q3 2011-12 income

 

Vodafone India
posted 6.3 percent increase in Q3 2011-12 income at 1.02 billion pounds against
963 million pounds in Q3 2010-11.

 

Significant
addition in mobile user base in India contributed to the single digit growth.
Mobile users touched 14.77 crore. Churn for post-paid mobile users was 20.7
percent, while pre-paid churn was 71.6 percent.

 

Voice revenue grew
to 790 million pounds in Q3 2011-12 from 761 million pounds in Q3 2010-11.

 

3G roll outs
assisted data revenue to move up 30 percent to 83 million pounds in Q3 2011-12
from 64 million pounds in Q3 2010-11. Following the launch of commercial 3G
services in February 2011, 3G was available to Vodafone customers in
683 towns and cities across 20 circles at 31 December 2011.

 

Messaging
revenue during the third quarter was 49 million.
