How Jio and Airtel performed in India wireless market

India’s wireless subscriber-base increased 0.43 percent to 1,156.87 million in February 2018, TRAI announced today.

Wireless subscription in urban areas fell 0.43 percent to 650.03 million. Wireless user base in rural areas rose 1.55 percent to 506.84 million.

Wireless tele-density in India increased from 88.83 in January to 89.12 in February 2018. The urban wireless tele-density declined from 159.39 in January to 158.46 in February. Rural wireless tele-density rose from 56.25 to 57.09.

Airtel has 25.57 percent share of Indian wireless market. Vodafone has 18.76 percent share. Idea Cellular has 17.47 percent share. Reliance Jio has 15.31 percent share of the mobile service provider market.

Reliance Jio Infocomm with 177.13 million, Bharti Airtel with 80.24 million, Vodafone with 55.54 million, Idea Cellular with 38.52 million and BSNL with 21 million are the broadband operators in India.

The top five wired broadband service providers are BSNL with 9.30 million, Airtel with 2.17 million, Atria Convergence Technologies with 1.30 million, MTNL with 0.88 million and Hathway Cable & Datacom with 0.75 million subscribers.

The top five wireless broadband service providers are Reliance Jio with 177.13 million, Bharti Airtel with 78.07 million, Vodafone with 55.54 million, Idea Cellular with 38.52 million and BSNL with 11.71 million.
