Huawei smartphone sales up 63% to 27.4 million in Q3

Huawei Consumer Business Group (BG) today said its smartphone shipments rose 63 percent to 27.4 million in the third quarter of 2015.

Mid-to-high-end devices accounted for 33 percent of those shipments – up seven percentage points over the previous quarter, said Huawei.

Industry-wide smartphone shipments for 2015 are expected to grow 9.3 percent.

“This quarter’s results clearly showcase the continued success of our growth strategy,” said Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer BG.

Huawei aims to sell 100 million units of smartphone by year’s end.

Huawei achieved smartphone shipment growth of 98 percent to Europe, 70 percent to the Middle-East-and-Africa regions and 81 percent to China.

Since launch, Huawei sold 6.5 million Mate 7 units, 7.5 million P7 and 4 million P8 devices.

Huawei’s devices account for 12.4 percent of the overall smartphone market in Spain, and 45.7 percent of the country’s high-end 400-500-euro-device market.

Huawei maintains 10.9 percent of the overall market and 27.9 percent of the high-end market in Italy.

Market research agency GFK indicated that the company has managed market share of 9.5 percent during January to August.

Huawei has a market share of 15.2 percent in China as of September 2015.

Huawei is among the top three smartphone makers in Australia, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and New Zealand.
