India telecom operator performance in July 2018

TRAI has released the latest telecom statistics report for Indian telecom operators for July 2018.
India mobile subscriber base TRAI July 2018Vodafone Idea has 38.37 percent share of the Indian mobile service provider market in July 2018.

Airtel is the second largest telecom operator with 31.91 percent share. This includes share from Tata Teleservices and Telenor.

Reliance Jio is the third largest mobile service provider with 19.62 percent share. BSNL/MTNL has 10.1 percent share of the Indian wireless service provider market, TRAI said.

Reliance Jio is the leader in the broadband space – wired and wireless broadband — with 49.33 percent share.

Airtel has 20.71 percent share of the broadband market in India.

BSNL has 4.38 percent share of the broadband market.

TRAI said wireless subscribers increased 0.92 percent to 1,157.04 million in July 2018 from 1,146.49 million in June.

The wireless subscription in urban areas increased 0.97 percent to 639.71 million in July from 633.60 million in June.

Wireless subscriptions in rural areas increased 0.86 percent to 517.33 million in July from 512.89 million in June.

Wireless tele-density in India increased from 88 in June to 88.73 in July. The urban wireless tele-density increased from 153.52 in June to 154.77 in July. Rural wireless tele-density also increased from 57.63 to 58.09.

The TRAI report said wireline subscribers declined 0.55 percent from 22.4 million in June to 22.27 million in July.

The number of broadband subscribers increased 2.93 percent from 447.12 million in June to 460.24 million in July.

Top broadband service providers are Reliance Jio Infocomm with 227.05 million, Bharti Airtel with 95.33 million, Vodafone with 63.79 million, Idea Cellular with 43.52 million and BSNL with 20.18 million connections.

The top five wired broadband service providers are BSNL with 9.15 million, Bharti Airtel with 2.21 million, Atria Convergence Technologies with 1.34 million, MTNL with 0.83 million and Hathway Cable with 0.75 million connections.

Top five wireless broadband service providers are Reliance Jio Infocomm with 227.05 million, Bharti Airtel with 93.11 million, Vodafone with 63.79 million, Idea Cellular with 43.52 million and BSNL with 11.03 million.
