The latest TRAI report revealed the subscriber base and market share leaders in the mobile, fixed phone, wired broadband and wireless broadband services in August 2018.
India mobile subscriber base August 2018Wireless subscribers increased 0.85 percent from 1,157.04 million in July 2018 to 1,166.90 million in August 2018. Airtel leads the wireless services market followed by Reliance Jio, Vodafone, Idea Cellular and BSNL.

India wireless broadband customers Aug 2018India has 647.80 million (+1.26 percent) mobile phone customers in urban areas and 519.10 million (+0.34 percent) in rural areas.

India has 1,013.21 million active mobile phone subscribers. The proportion of active mobile phone customers was approximately 86.83 percent of the total wireless subscriber base, TRAI said.

TRAI statistics shows that Reliance Jio’s 17 percent subscribers are in-active. BSNL’s 43 percent subscribers are in-active. Bharti Airtel has the maximum proportion (98.47 percent) of its active wireless subscribers.

Airtel has 340.58 million active mobile phone connections as compared with 208.60 million for Vodafone India, 198.83 million for Idea Cellular, 197.93 million for Reliance Jio and 65.55 million for BSNL.

Wireline subscribers declined 0.38 percent from 22.27 million in July 2018 to 22.19 million in August 2018. BSNL is the leader in the wireline phone service market followed by Airtel India.

The number of broadband subscribers — wireless and wired — increased 0.74 percent from 460.24 million in July 2018 to 463.66 million in August 2018. Reliance Jio is the broadband market leader in wireless and wired market.

Wired broadband service provider market leaders are BSNL with 9.16 million, Bharti Airtel with 2.24 million, Atria Convergence Technologies with 1.36 million, MTNL with 0.81 million and Hathway Cable with 0.76 million subscribers.

Wireless broadband service provider market leaders are Reliance Jio with 239.23 million, Bharti Airtel with 96.12 million, Vodafone with 51.25 million, Idea Cellular with 44.24 million and BSNL with 11.19 million subscribers.
