India telecoms shed large mobile subscriber base in Sept

Indian telecom operators such as Airtel, BSNL, Vodafone and Idea Cellular have lost significant number of customers in September 2018, TRAI data shows.

Airtel’s mobile customer base fell to 343.52 million in September 2018 from 345.88 million in August 2018. Airtel has 98.05 percent subscribers are active on its 2G, 3G and 4G networks in India.

Vodafone’s mobile phone customer base decreased to 221.85 million in September 2018 from 224.48 million in August 2018. Vodafone India has 93.11 percent subscribers are active on its mobile phone network.

Idea Cellular’s mobile phone subscriber dropped to 213.10 million in September 2018 from   217.16 million in August 2018. Idea Cellular has 92.08 percent subscribers are active on its mobile network.

The mobile phone subscriber base of BSNL dipped to 113.04 million in September 2018 from 113.58 million in August 2018. BSNL has 57.01 percent subscribers are active on its 2G and 3G networks.

Reliance Jio has enhanced its subscriber base to 252.25 million in September 2018 from 239.23 million in August 2018. Reliance Jio has 82.33 percent subscribers are active on its 4G network.
