Ericsson, Huawei Technologies, Nokia and ZTE are the top technology vendors in the global LTE base station market.

“The LTE base station market is expected to grow constantly because of the rising demand for high-speed broadband services and the growing consumer awareness of IoT applications such as connected homes and automobiles,” said Abhishek Sharma, a lead analyst at Technavio for M2M and connected devices research.

The LTE base station market by the residential and small office or home office (SOHO) segment will grow at nearly 15 percent CAGR. Telecom operators in some countries need to offer the exact information on every base station location — restricting the growth of LTE base stations in this segment.

Mobile operators also need to offer registered locations of mobile network equipment to the authorities of emergency services such as fire brigades and health and safety agencies to meet E911 needs.

The LTE base station market by the enterprise segment will grow at a CAGR of more than 20 percent. Mobile operators or enterprises deploy transceivers with 4G / LTE radio in enterprise buildings and on campuses – supporting 8-32 simultaneous calls or sessions.

It includes femto-to-femto assignment capability and the Power over Ethernet (PoE) support. It is backhauled over existing in-building cabling and is deployed in an open or closed mode and typically indoors.

The LTE base station market by the urban segment is expected to grow at a CAGR of around 25 percent. Telecom operators deploy LTE base stations in densely populated environments such as parks or city centers (outdoor) or convention centers, shopping malls, or transport hubs (indoor) and connect with a macro layer through a heterogeneous network (HetNet).

The LTE base station market by the rural and remote segment is expected to grow at a CAGR of more than 10 percent.
