5G tester market forecast to reach $629 million

The global 5G tester market revenue will reach $629 million in 2019, witnessing 14.6 percent increase from 2018. More than 40 percent of the total demand will be from telecom providers.

Telecom industry association GSMA 16 major countries will launch 5G networks by the end of 2019 following commercial launches in the US and South Korea towards the end of 2018. Mobile operators will invest around $480 billion between 2018 and 2020 in mobile Capex. Half of the Capex will be from countries expected to have launched 5G by 2020.

Demand growth of 5G tester is likely to gain more prominence in the automotive industry over the course of next few years. GSMA says enterprise use cases that use massive IoT and / or low-latency communications will transform verticals such as manufacturing, utilities, healthcare, retail, agriculture and automotive.

Automobile major Audi is pioneering the trend of private 5G network in collaboration with Ericsson. Daimler, BMW, and Volkswagen are most likely to follow the trend, thereby fueling demand for 5G testers in the years to come.

Companies such as Verizon, AT&T, and others, are switching to 5G networks, raising demand for 5G testers. Network analyzers and signal analyzers remain the most sought after types of 5G testers in market. Network analyzers alone account for over 45 percent share in the 5G tester sales volume.

The number of trials for effective 5G implementation has been on a constant rise in the recent past, particularly in the US, South Korea, Japan, the UK, and a few other countries. 5G trials are the boosters to fuel the demand for 5G testers in the global market.

Developed regional markets will showcase potential for 5G tester market growth owing to high capital investment associated with adoption of 5G testers. Vodafone UK has already announced that it has completed the 5G spectrum test trials across their existing network.
