Ascom’s captures 38.2 percent marketshare in wireless communications drive test equipment market

Frost & Sullivan recognized Ascom Network Testing and its TEMS portfolio with the 2011 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Market Share Leadership.

Ascom has emerged as the leader in the global wireless communications drive test market with a leading share of 38.2 percent in 2010.

With the introduction of Long Term Evolution (LTE) in the North American market, the region accounted for 36 percent of the total revenues generated from mobile network testing and optimization by Ascom in 2010.

Further, the company managed to generate 13 percent of its revenues from the Asia-Pacific region despite significant competition from local market participants. Overall, due to its distributed global presence, Ascom enjoys relatively balanced revenues from across the globe, roughly in
line with global regional technology investments by wireless operators.

One of the primary factors contributing to Ascom’s leadership position in the wireless communications drive test equipment market is its two strategic acquisitions in 2009,” said Frost & Sullivan Program Manager Olga Yashkova. The company also leverages its broad product portfolio
to support a large number of network testing applications.”

In June 2009, Ascom acquired TEMS, the test division of L.M. Ericsson Telephone, which provided it with a tremendous advantage in terms of advanced mobile networks optimization product lines, a global customer base, and a geographic presence in 17 countries.

TEMS solutions for mobile network optimization are a perfect combination with Ascom’s mobile test solutions (MTS) and has strengthened Ascom’s market position by providing a one-stop solution to its global customers. Moreover, it immediately propelled Ascom to a market leadership position in mobile network optimization.

Following a dedicated strategy to continually broaden its solutions to support evolving technology standards, Ascom invests heavily in emerging technologies. As the market is currently driven by the growth and increased adoption of LTE technology, Ascom aspires to gain leadership in this sector through early technology support, improved product visibility, and strong market penetration. Ascom has achieved significant growth in the North American LTE drive test market and intends to increase its penetration in the Asia-Pacific market as LTE is deployed across the region.

Frost & Sullivan recognizes Ascom with the 2011 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Market Share Leadership in the global wireless drive test market based on Ascom’s extensive product portfolio,
strategic acquisitions and corporate strategy to invest heavily in evolving technologies to stay ahead of competition.
