Tektronix’s IMS Service Assurance Offers End-To-End Monitoring and Management

Tektronix Communications announced that the explosion of multimedia services and convergence of fixed and mobile broadband networks is driving increased IMS deployment and propelling growth for end-to-end monitoring and assurance solutions from Tektronix Communications.

The company’s IMS Service Assurance solution provides a complete end-to-end view, irrespective of the technology domains a call may traverse as it crosses the network.

IMS networks provide a single platform for a wide variety of services, from basic voice, video and messaging to new, highly-sophisticated services such as video conferencing, telepresence and rich communications. IMS, the common source for these services, will require multiple entities and functions that must be managed proactively and in real-time. Subscribers to IMS services are forecast to reach 160 million by the end of 2011, up 43 percent from 2010, according to Infonetics Research.

Tektronix Communications’ IMS solution helps service providers assure voice and multimedia in an IP network or in a network that is transitioning to IP, by providing an optimized media troubleshooting workflow.

Featuring a rich set of quality of service (QoS) sources and integrated media capture, analysis, playback and export, this intuitive, optimized tool provides rapid and effective root cause analysis for VoIP and multimedia over IP QoS issues.

We’ve seen more service providers developing their new generation of services with IMS. These services span LTE, NGN and legacy SS7 technologies, and involve increasingly complex signaling setup and interworking,” said Mark Driedger, vice president, Network Management, Tektronix Communications.

Our IMS Service Assurance solution offers a highly-flexible view on actual IMS service performance with full correlation of signaling and media, regardless of the underlying network, to ultimately help ensure customer quality of experience and subscriber retention,” Driedger added.

Tektronix Communications’ experience in IMS recently led to its solution being deployed to monitor an IMS network that will support a major Rich Communication Suite (RCS) initiative for a pan-European mobile operator group.

The RCS project is a collaborative effort coordinated by the GSMA, now supported by nearly 100 operators, vendors and other telecommunication companies, that facilitates the introduction of commercial, rich IMS communication services for mobile as well as fixed networks.
