Huawei announces completion of eHRPD optimized handoff test

Telecom Lead Asia: Telecom gear maker Huawei has
completed a commercial test for LTE to CDMA evolved, High-Rate Packet Data
(eHRPD) optimized handoff.

eHRPD is an evolution and improvement of the original
CDMA EV-DO network, which acts as a bridge from CDMA to LTE by ensuring service
continuity while protecting existing operator investment.

The industry’s first eHRPD optimized handoff test will
paves the way for improving the quality of data service in the process of
handover between LTE and CDMA.

Citing an example for the handover process LTE and CDMA,
the company said that in the initial stage of LTE deployment, network coverage
is mainly concentrated to the hotspots.

When users move outside of the LTE network, their mobile
broadband data service is seamlessly handoff to the Evolution-Data Optimized
(EV-DO) network, ensuring a good experience.

This is a key function for all the hundreds of CDMA
operators who are expanding their networks with the 10 times more capable LTE
service.

The company said that it is commitment to investment and
innovation in CDMA technologies. Huawei powers most of the CDMA telecom
operators worldwide.

Huawei provides its customers with E2E products and
solutions, business consulting services and industry cooperation to ensure the
successful commercial network rollouts.
