Phone vendor Nokia India announced the availability of its Lumia 1520, a 6-inch smartphone on Windows Phone 8 operating system. The price of the new phablet from Nokia is Rs 46,999 in the country.
Vipul Mehrotra, director and head of smart devices at Nokia India, Middle East and Africa, said the company will focus more on experiences. In 2014, the company will introduce more phones to address low-end, budget and premium segments.
In 2013, Nokia did well in India, said Mehrotra. “The mobile phone market looks promising for device makers with innovation. We will continue to focus on improve our offerings and reach to our target audience,” he added.
Nokia Lumia 1520 comes with a 20MP primary camera with dual led flash and a 1.2MP secondary camera. Its 3400 mAh battery provides a talk time of up to 27 hours and 40 minute on 2G network and 25 hours on 3G network. In addition, the new phablet offers standby time of up to 768 hours for both 3G & 2G networks.
“This is the 10th Lumia device that we have launched in India. Going forward, we will focus more on services or experiences like mapping, imaging, music and many more,” said Mehrotra.
In 2014, it is expected that Nokia phone business will be under the Microsoft fold and there will be more launches in the pipeline.
Nokia Lumia 1520 comes with 2GB RAM and 32 GB internal user memory.
Mehrotra said the handset-maker is phasing out the phone models which it launched in 2012.
Meanwhile, Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet may not land in India because, Mehrotra said, the tablet is made for LTE-focused markets.
