Aircel 4G launched in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar and Odisha

Indian telecom service provider Aircel today launched its 4G services in four mobile circles including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar and Odisha.

The company did not share details on pricing of its data plans and the maximum and minimum speed offered on its 4G network.

Aircel, partly owned by Maxis of Malaysia, holds 20MHz of spectrum in 4G LTE 2300 MHz band across eight circles such as Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Assam and North East and Jammu and Kashmir.

This means, Aircel launched 4G LTE services in half of the telecom circles where it has BWA license.

Aircel received the BWA (broadband wireless access) spectrum in 2010. With the 4G launch, Aircel has become the second operator to launch 4G India. Bharti Airtel is the first telecom operator to unveil 4G on TD-LTE technology in Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune and Punjab.

With the launch of 4G LTE services, Aircel is well placed to continue meeting the ever increasing data demand of its customers.

Aircel, which has 3G spectrum in 13 circles, did not share Capex plans for LTE and the number of sites deployed.

Anupam Vasudev, chief marketing officer, Aircel, said: “The parameters that will differentiate  Aircel 4G LTE services include customized offerings with a quick turnaround time for deployment of services to Enterprise and Home customer, beating existing industry standards.”

Aircel said it is confident of leading the 4G LTE market in India. Incidentally, Bharti Airtel, which started offering voice and 4G data on select Apple and LG smartphones, does not have presence in telecom circles where Aircel launched 4G services today.
