China Mobile adds 51 million 4G subscribers in 3 months

China Mobile today said it added 51 million 4G subscribers in the last three months till 30 September 2016.

China Mobile has a 4G subscriber base of 481 million in the September quarter of 2016 against 429 million in the June quarter of 2016.

3G subscriber base of China fell to 119 million from 133 million.

Handset Data Traffic (MB) on both 3G and 4G networks reached 3,822.6 billion MB from 2,327.9 billion MB, said China Mobile.

China Mobile says Average Handset Data Traffic per User per Month (DOU) reached 634 MB per user / month against 589 MB.

Mobile ARPU of China Mobile fell to 60 RMB from 61.5 RMB.

Wireline broadband ARPU of China Mobile dropped to 33 RMB from 33.4 RMB.

China Mobile’s wireline broadband base increased to 74.24 million from 65.84 million, while wireless user base grew to 844 million from 837 million.

China Mobile today said its operating revenue was RMB 542.7 billion (+4.3 percent). Telecom service revenue of China Mobile was RMB 481.2 billion (+5.4 percent). Profit of China Mobile was RMB 88.1 billion (+3.1 percent).

“There is a relatively high demand for resources from various fronts including the growth of 4G business, the development of wireline broadband as well as the deployment of digital services. The Group proactively enhanced cost efficiency across its operations, deepened transformation of its sales and marketing model, and promoted more efficient use of resources,” said China Mobile Chairman Shang Bing.
