Ericsson positioned as LTE leader by Gartner

Gartner has positioned Ericsson as an LTE industry leader within the Leaders quadrant of its 2013 Magic Quadrant for LTE Infrastructure report for the fourth year in a row.

Ericsson says Gartner evaluated end-to-end vendors of LTE equipment (radio and core) based on their ability to execute and completeness of vision in the LTE market.

Last week, Dell’Oro Group said Ericsson maintained its leading market share in LTE RAN in the second quarter of 2013, while Huawei’s share in this segment continued to improve. Together, the two vendors accounted for 63 percent of the combined WCDMA/LTE RAN market.

Ericsson provides heterogeneous network solutions with Wi-Fi integration for small cells, an end-to-end LTE offering with a large footprint, WCDMA and CDMA, together with professional services.

“We believe this confirms other independent measurements and leading operator reports that Ericsson has the best network performance in the industry,” said Thomas Norén, vice president and head of Product Area Radio, Ericsson.

“We are the only vendor that has commercial Antenna Integrated Radio products, which deploy quickly and bring further radio coverage benefits that enable operators to provide higher speeds and handle more traffic cost effectively,” Noren added.

Ericsson claims that it is the leading vendor of VoLTE and LTE Broadcast.

Ericsson powers 9 of top 10 LTE operators’ live networks.

Ericsson expects to hold 25 percent of all essential patents for LTE, making it the largest patent holder in the industry.
