T-Mobile 4G LTE reaches 250 million American wireless users

American wireless carrier T-Mobile today said its 4G LTE network reached 250 million Americans – months ahead of schedule.

The telecom operator has been aggressively pricing its mobile data plans to bring more customers towards 4G LTE network.

The company is on track to cover 280 million people with 4G LTE by mid-2015, and expect to hit the 300 million mark by the end of 2015.

T-Mobile CEO John Legere said the company is on a mission to change wireless for the better and customers are taking notice and joining the Uncarrier revolution.

He said 10 million customers have joined T-Mobile in the last six quarters. That’s 10 million more that have seen through the BS of this industry. T-Mobile has nearly 53 million customers.

T-Mobile, the small rival to AT&T and Verizon Wireless, will be using 700 MHz and 1900 MHz PCS spectrum with LTE, and push 4G LTE on AWS spectrum. T-Mobile will roll out T-Mobile Wideband LTE into areas from coast to coast, and is aiming for at least 26 Wideband LTE markets this year.

“No other network team in the nation can light up new network advancements so fast. We saw it with the initial roll out of our LTE network – we hit nationwide coverage months ahead of schedule. We saw it with the nationwide availability of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) three months after initially launching in Seattle,” said T-Mobile’s chief technology officer Neville Ray.

Over 40 markets, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., will get LTE on 1900 MHz PCS spectrum. Low-band 700 MHz A-Block spectrum improves in-building 4G LTE coverage, as well as expanding coverage well beyond major population centers.

T-Mobile said the current number of markets with T-Mobile Wideband LTE will be 19 and the aim is to cover at least 26 Wideband LTE markets by the end of this year.
