JioSpaceFiber will be accessible to users throughout India at highly affordable rates, expanding on Reliance Jio’s existing broadband services, including JioFiber and JioAirFiber, which currently serve over 450 million consumers.

The introduction of JioSpaceFiber represents a significant step towards enhancing broadband connectivity in rural India. The satellite network will not only offer high-speed internet but also support additional capacity for mobile backhaul, contributing to the expansion of Jio True5G in even the most remote regions of the country.

This collaboration leverages the capabilities of the MEO constellation, enabling the delivery of truly unique Gigabit, fiber-like services from space.

During the demonstration, it was highlighted that JioSpaceFiber is already available for trial purposes in various regions, including Gir Gujarat, Korba Chattisgarh, Nabrangpur Odisha, and ONGC-Jorhat Assam, showcasing its potential to bridge the digital divide and bring reliable high-speed internet to underserved areas.

Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “Jio has enabled millions of homes and businesses in India to experience broadband internet for the first time. With JioSpaceFiber, we expand our reach to cover the millions yet to be connected.”

John-Paul Hemingway, Chief Strategy Officer at SES, also emphasized the project’s significance, stating, “Together with Jio, we are supporting the Government of India’s Digital India initiative with a unique solution that aims at delivering multiple gigabits per second of throughput to any location in India.”
