Telefonica Vivo taps Ericsson AVP 4000 Encoder to improve TV experience

Telefonica Vivo, a telecom operator in Brazil, has selected Ericsson AVP 4000 Encoder to improve its TV viewing experience.

Rafael Sgrott, video and content director of Telefonica Vivo, said: “In addition, we kicked off begun trials to showcase the ability to provide 4K experience in Brazil.”

Ericsson’s AVP single platform offers better capability on a single platform across all applications, from standard definition to HD 1080p50/60, 3DTV and UHDTV, and all codecs including MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC and JPEG 2000.

Ericsson said the deal with Telefonica Vivo represents the first deployment of the chip in the Latin American market.

The chip delivers the necessary performance and control to develop and implement algorithms required to achieve the highest bandwidth efficiency across all delivery networks.

Earlier, Ericsson predicted that there will be 50 billion connected devices and 15 billion of which will be video-enabled by 2020.
