Amdocs lands 5-year IT managed services deal from Mtel Bulgaria

Telecom Lead Europe: Mtel Bulgaria, a part of Telekom Austria Group, has signed five-year IT managed services contract with Amdocs.

Amdocs will handle IT operations, including data center, disaster recovery and business support systems (BSS) operations, across all lines of business. Amdocs will deliver additional managed services, including application development, integration management, testing and hardware procurement and maintenance.

Mtel Bulgaria’s Capex during January-September 2012 was EUR 49 million.

The mobile operator’s 9-months revenue in 2012 declined 9.3 percent to EUR 358.3 million.

Revenue decline was due to lower monthly fee and traffic revenues as a result of a lower usage and a decline in prices. Fixed line service revenues amounted to EUR 14.9 million in the first nine months of 2012 compared to EUR 12.7 million during the same period in 2011.

Since 2007, Amdocs has been working with Mtel for rating, billing, ordering, customer management and product catalog systems.

Amdocs will now support Mtel’s Amdocs systems as well as 17 other legacy and third-party systems.

Mtel, the largest telecom operator in Bulgaria, is aiming to improve operational and business performance levels in several areas, including system and service availability, problem resolution, time to market for new services and bill transparency, and reduce the number of customer calls to its call centers

Horst Pertl, chief technology officer at Mtel, says the managed services deal is a significant milestone in its strategy to consolidate its operations to become a multi-play provider.

Rebecca Prudhomme, vice president of product and solutions marketing at Amdocs, says by freeing itself from day-to-day IT operations and by establishing a single point of contact for multiple suppliers, Mtel will be able to focus on its customers, marketing initiatives and business growth.
