Telecom Lead Asia: Polycom, a provider of open
standards-based unified communications, leads the Chinese market in video
conferencing systems with 51.4 percent share in 2011, according to CCW
Research.
Yang Ke, consulting director of CCW Research said the
increased market share of Polycom demonstrates its strength in delivering video
collaboration solutions that meet the needs of China customers.
Due to increased adoption of immersive telepresence, HD
room and desktop systems, as well as mobile video endpoints, the value of the
video collaboration market in China grew by 20.6 percent in 2011, as compared
with previous year.
The study conducted by CCW Research predicted that the
overall market will continue a growth trend in 2012, driven by emerging video
cloud services.
In China and in global markets, Polycom is working to
make video collaboration ubiquitous, with customers no longer being limited by
location, network carrier, protocol, or device,” said Steven Li, Vice president
and general manager, Polycom China.
Polycom said that it is making visual collaboration
accessible through partnerships with mobile device manufacturers and
PC-manufacturer .
The company is also working with China Unicom to help it
deliver Video-as-a-Service (VaaS) offerings.
Powered by Polycom RealPresence Platform, China Unicom
has one of the largest video clouds in the world, which enables the delivery of
VaaS to more than 10,000 business and government organizations throughout
China.
Recently, Polycom collaborated with the Education
Commission of Beijing Xicheng District to create the first remote and
international exchange education system in Beijing.
Polycom assists China’s MOST to streamline operations
Last year, China’s Ministry of Science and Technology
(MOST) deployed Polycom’s UC video solutions, including the Polycom
RealPresence Platform, to speed development of its large-scale projects and
conferences.
