Spirent Communications introduces Hybrid Location Technology Solution

Telecom Lead America: Spirent Communications, a provider
of navigation, positioning and wireless test solutions, has launched its
new Hybrid Location Technology Solution (HLTS).

The latest solution combines Wi-Fi, Assisted Global
Navigation Satellite System (A-GNSS), Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS)
sensor and cellular positioning technologies.

The company claims that the solution provides repeatable
and reliable lab-based characterization of mobile devices.

The solution supports the hybrid location technologies
being developed to provide accurate user location everywhere, including
indoors.

Hesham ElHamahmy, vice president of Spirent said that the
test solution integrates four very different and distinct positioning
technologies and it will accelerate the development of next-generation location
technologies in wireless devices.

The company claims that no singular positioning
technology can provide the accurate everywhere” location needed by many
smartphone applications.

The solution is critical for the next-generation of
enhanced emergency services, such as E911 in the United States.

The HLTS integrates multiple positioning technologies and
assists the device developer in optimizing these technologies for precise
location determination.

The solution is configured and controlled via a single
user interface (SimHybrid) which, without the need for additional coding or
scripting, allows a user to easily create realistic hybrid test scenarios and
significantly reduce development time.

The HLTS offers all elements of hybrid positioning
technology and offers testing modes that are measure and playback, and
simulation.

The latest solution is among Spirent’s line of location
technology test innovations. The company further claims that the HLTS is the
first and only solution to provide the device developer with all the tools and
capabilities necessary to deliver accurate everywhere” location on mobile
devices.

Spirent expands solutions to understand network performance
impacts

Recently, Spirent Communications announced Spirent
TestCenter, Spirent Avalanche and Spirent Studio targeting enterprise IT
managers and network system developers.
