Tulip Telecom income up 14 percent to Rs 687 crore in Q3 FY12

: Tulip Telecom, an enterprise data services provider, has
reported 13.9 percent increase in revenues in third-quarter at Rs 686.6 crore
against Rs 602.2 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal.

 

The
company’s net profit decreased 4 percent to Rs 77.3 crore in Q3 FY 2011-12.

 

The
performance during the quarter is reflective of headwinds faced in the
macro-economic environment, Tulip Telecom said in a statement.

 

The
company posted operating profit of Rs 199.1 crore against Rs 171.5 crore in
corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, registering an increase of 16.1
percent.

 

The
company said better utilization of the existing fiber infrastructure led to an
improvement in the EBITDA margin from 28.5 percent to29 percent in the quarter.

 

 

While the
demand for fibre connectivity, managed services and data center remains
undiminished, our focus is on enhancing client engagement by deeply mining
customer relationships through our end-to-end data service offerings. We are
already enthused by the progress so far and are confident of rapid scale up
once the macro environment improves,” said HS Bedi, chairman and MD, VSM, Tulip
Telecom.

 

In the
third-quarter, the company won order from Rajasthan State Crime and Criminal
Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) for a turnkey network implementation
across1, 172 locations. It also got 6th R-APRDP project in Bihar.

 

Tulip
Telecom is deploying 1,200 kms of National Long Distance (NLD) fiber between
Mumbai and Chennai, which is expected to be completed by Q4 FY2012. Also, it
launched digital video surveillance solutions on Cloud in partnership with
MindTree and Iomega.

 

Recently, Tulip
launched its Bengaluru Data Center, Tulip Data City, which is India’s largest
and world’s third largest single site Data Center. 

 

The
company said that it already booked orders from reputed organizations which
amount to a potential value of up to Rs 600 crore for a period of 5 years for
the data centre.
