YouMail touches 1 billion calls answered

YouMail, a provider of cloud-based communications apps
and services for smartphones, announced it has reached the milestone of
answering 1 billion phone calls for its users, including 500 million since
September 2010.

The company also disclosed it has achieved another key
milestone in its growth trajectory by receiving new funding that brings its
overall total of equity and debt financing since 2007 to $12.5 million.

“I’m proud to say this call-volume milestone means
that our Visual Voicemail Plus service has answered the phone on behalf of our
users more than a billion times. And it’s all driven by consumer demand for
feature-rich voicemail on their smartphones from a provider that treats callers
well, and lets users have complete control over their voicemail,” said
Alex Quilici, CEO, YouMail.

“Our experience shows that telecommunications has
already moved into the cloud. In fact, a wide swath of the population in the
United States more than 50 million people has experienced YouMail by calling a
YouMail user at least once,” Quilici added

The YouMail platform
supports applications for smartphones such as iPhone, BlackBerry and Google
Android devices, plus third-party applications developed for other mobile
operating systems, such as Windows Phone 7, Windows Phone 6.5 and WebOS, as
well as for the iPhone and Android platforms.

YouMail will use proceeds of the latest financing to roll
out a network of mobile applications and services, expand the platform and
accelerate growth of Visual Voicemail Plus,
its flagship service.

“We invest in transformative companies that have
long-term growth potential and sustainable differentiation. YouMail has built a
sizable business on the back of a single communication application, which is
why we’re eager to help YouMail accelerate that growth and roll out a robust
set of consumer applications on its platform,” said Pat Gallagher, a
partner with VantagePoint Capital Partners.
