ZyXEL introduces software upgrade for ZLD 3.0

Telecom Lead America: ZyXEL Communications, a networking
company, has announced a free software upgrade ZLD 3.0 for its Unified
Threat Management (UTM) series.

With the ZLD 3.0 upgrade, mobile professionals can easily
connect to a company network from anywhere, without the concern of the network
being abused or eavesdropped.

The new release supports native L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling
Protocol) settings on iOS and Android-based mobile devices for secure VPN
connection to corporate networks, without installing any additional
applications or clients.

We’ve also integrated a new subscription service for
email security to strengthen the solution and offer new recurring revenue
opportunities for our solution providers,” said Steven Joe, executive vice
president of channel business for Americas at ZyXEL.

The company said that the upgrade also adds Commtouch’s
cloud-based anti-spam and Web filtering service. Additional features include an
improved GUI (graphical user interface) and greater control over social media
threats.

The company added that its support for native L2TP VPN
makes its UTMs a more economical choice for businesses, eliminating additional
costs for client applications that enable employees to access a company’s VPN.

ZyXEL’s USG and UTM series also integrates
Commtouch’s email security suite and GlobalView URL
Filtering service. This blocks unwanted email, such as spam, malware and
phishing, and reduces the quantity of messages passing through the system by deflecting
undesirable traffic at the organization’s perimeter.

This new service supports security services such as
Kaspersky anti-virus, Blue Coat content filtering and ZyXEL IDP/AV.

The ZLD 3.0 software upgrade is available for free and
can be downloaded from the respective product pages on the company’s official
website.

Recently, ZyXEL Communications integrated Commtouch’s cloud-based anti-spam and Web filtering
solutions into its ZyWALL Unified Security Gateway product line.
