iPhone 5 preorder touches 2 million.. to grow further

Telecom Lead America: By expanding its geographical reach, Apple can sell more iPhone 5s to mobile hungry customers during its debut.

The device major Apple, which is challenging Samsung for smartphone supremacy, said iPhone 5 preorders topped 2 million in 24 hours, more than double the amount of iPhone 4S preorders.

Most preorders will be delivered on Friday.

Since demand for the iPhone 5 exceeds the initial supply, some of the devices will be scheduled for delivery in October.

Samsung and Nokia will have a tough third quarter and fourth quarters if Apple is going to deliver more iPhone 5s in 2012. Samsung is already feeling the pinch due to the recent $1.05 billion damage order by the U.S. court.

Last week, Samsung released an ad that compares the specifications of the two top-of-the-line smartphones – Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S III. Since the ad has been released by Samsung, it is tilted towards the S III and the copy says, It doesn’t take a genius. The next big thing is already here, Galaxy S III.

Seems new advertisement campaigns will not assist Samsung to come out of the present troubles.

According to Apple Insider, the iPhone 5 will debut in 9 countries for its Sept. 21 debut: the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Then a week later on Sept. 28, the iPhone 5 will roll out in 22 additional countries, including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

In comparison, last year the iPhone 4S launched in a total of seven countries on Oct. 14, with 22 more countries added to the mix by the end of October. This means, Apple iPhone 5 is set to create more headlines in 2012.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 5 sells for $199 for the 16 gigabyte model, $299 for the 32 GB or $399 for the 64 GB model. It seems there is no downturn in these markets.

The Apple iPhone 5 will be available at its 356 U.S. stores starting on Friday. Each customer that makes a purchase at a store will be offered free personal setup service, which will help them customize their device.

Aside from Apple stores, the iPhone 5 will be available at Apple’s website as well as through AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, some Best Buy, RadioShack, Target and Walmart stores and certain Apple authorized resellers.

On Monday, telecom major AT&T said it set a sales record for the iPhone 5, with customers ordering more of them than any previous iPhone model on the first day of preorders and over the weekend.

Apple iPhone 5 will be available in more than 22 countries on Sept. 28. Apple is looking at adding more countries in phases. However, countries without LTE presence may not be the right target for Apple iPhone 5.
