Telecom Lead Europe: Finnish handset maker Nokia has
added free business capabilities for Nokia Asha 302 and Asha 303 handsets.
Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol-based Mail for
Exchange is now available for free in the Nokia store. The application enables
push email, calendar and contact data synchronization between compatible
Microsoft Exchange email servers.
By bringing these capabilities, the struggling handset
maker tries to improve its sub-100 euro market share. With the new free app,
Nokia is bringing the business opportunity to entrepreneurs and businesses in
high growth economies around the world.
“Mail for Exchange on Asha 302 and Asha 303 helps to
reduce costs by eliminating the need for expensive middleware, speeds up
processes and enables business users to respond quickly to customer needs or
communicate on the go, giving businesses more opportunity to succeed in today’s
fast-paced world,” said Dieter May, senior vice president, Mobile Phones
Services.
Mail for Exchange on the Asha 302 and 303 supports
Microsoft Exchange 2003, 2007 and 2010 Servers, and Microsoft Office 365
Mobility online service.
Having a QWERTY keyboard, 1GHz processor, Nokia Browser, which
compresses data consumption by 90 percent, these Asha phones blur the lines
between feature phones and smartphones.
The company said that Asha phones with Mail for Exchange
represents a significant step forward in connecting the next billion people to
more critical information around them.
In addition to the encrypted email storage, a variety of
Exchange ActiveSync security policies comes embedded in the app.
The app features alphanumeric password, minimum length
for password and remote or local wipe after maximum password attempts,
fulfilling companies’ hygiene device security needs.
