Panasonic India’s Manish Sharma gets global responsibility

Panasonic Manish SharmaManish Sharma, president and CEO, Panasonic India and South Asia, and executive officer of Panasonic Corporation, will get additional role of vice president – Appliances Company of Panasonic Corporation.

Manish Sharma, with this additional responsibility, becomes the only Indian to be a part of company’s global team.

Panasonic has also given additional responsibilities to Daizo Ito, chairman of Panasonic India, and regional head for the India, South Asia, Middle East and Africa (ISAMEA) for Panasonic Corporation, as the senior vice president, Eco Solutions Company in charge of global marketing.

The elevation is part of the company’s global organizational shift in preparation for new business initiatives and future growth.

Manish Sharma joined Panasonic in 2008 and has been instrumental in spearheading the growth and transformation of Panasonic India from a consumer-electronics company to a technology solutions company.

Manish Sharma will take charge of shaping the global business plans and driving profitable growth along with sustainable business development for the appliances division.

Manish Sharma, in his current role as the president, leads Panasonic in India including group and sister companies and the group support operations to drive profitable growth along with strategy planning and sustainable business development across businesses.

He is also credited with transforming Panasonic’s smartphone business in India. He is the first Indian and the youngest to be appointed to the post of executive officer in the 98 year history of Panasonic Corporation.

“It is a big opportunity for me to play a significant role in Panasonic’s business strategies and align the global strategies with Indian operations. This re-affirms the focus on India as a growth hub for the corporation,” Manish Sharma said.

Ito joined Panasonic Corporation (then Matsushita Electric Industrial Company) in 1977 and has been with the company for the last 4 decades.
