Sony slashes price of Xperia smartphones, Xperia U available at Rs 15,990

Telecom Lead India: Sony has slashed the price of its existing range of Xperia smartphones in India.

The price reduction is ahead of the festival season.

Nokia recently announced a slew of special offers during Diwali.

From 10 October, Xperia U, Xperia P, Xperia Go and Xperia ion smartphones will be available at new prices.

Sony on Thursday said Xperia go will be available at Rs 18,990. While the new price of Xperia ion is Rs 34,990, Xperia P and Xperia U are available at Rs 24,990 and at Rs 15,990.

“Sony is also driving itself across price segments to keep up with the expectation of every Indian consumer who aspires to own a smartphone,” said Kenichiro Hibi, managing director, Sony India.

Sony is trying to leverage its national presence in the country. In India, Sony has its footprint across all major towns and cities in the country through a distribution network comprising of over 10,400 dealers and distributors, 270 exclusive Sony outlets and 23 direct branch locations.

Sony India also has a strong service presence across the country with 255 service outlets. Manned by customer friendly and informed sales persons, Sony’s exclusive stores ‘Sony Center’ are fast becoming the most visible face of the company in India.
