There are 28 commercial VoLTE deployments currently existing worldwide according to GSMA. Huawei has won over 50 VoLTE commercialization contracts as of July 2015, making it a leading strategic partner for global leading operators in the field of VoLTE.
Meanwhile, Infonetics Research, a part of IHS, projects that the VoLTE revenue is expected to reach around $3 billion by 2017, while VoLTE subscribers will be around $160 million during the period.
The number of global LTE subscribers is expected to more than quadruple to 755 million between 2013 and 2017, and the number of VoLTE subscribers to grow 17-fold during this same period, said Infonetics Research.
In a research report, GSA said in July that 25 telecom operators in 16 countries have commercially launched VoLTE-based HD voice service as compared with 3 in March 2014. 103 operators are investing in VoLTE deployments, trials or studies in 49 countries.
Mobile vendors have announced 219 VoLTE-capable devices including 198 smartphones that will support the growth of VoLTE. The number of telecom operators, who have launched LTE, is 422 in 143 countries as compared with 106 operators in the past year.
