How TeliaSonera utilized investments in Q3

Telecom network operator TeliaSonera today said its network related Capex (investment) reached SEK 3,909 million or nearly $471 million in the third quarter of 2015 from SEK 3,782 million.

Total Capex – including network, spectrum and licenses — of TeliaSonera fell to SEK 3,902 million from SEK 4,929 million.

Sales of TeliaSonera increased 6.3 percent to SEK 27,029 million or $3.3 billion, while net income rose 12.7 percent to SEK 4,589 million in Q3 2015.

Johan Dennelind, president and CEO of TeliaSonera, said the growth drivers were performance in Sweden and Europe. There was macro-economic pressure and high competition in parts of Eurasia, particularly affecting operations in Kazakhstan. Performance in Nepal remained strong.

TeliaSonera investments

TeliaSonera made an investment of SEK 6 billion this year in Sweden, mainly focusing on fiber and 4G LTE networks. TeliaSonera’s investment in Sweden during the third quarter was SEK 1,400 million. It is investing 17.4 percent of revenue on infrastructure. TeliaSonera said its fiber connected 16,000 new homes in the third quarter with the total number of homes under fiber network reaching 30,000 in Sweden.

The third quarter Capex of TeliaSonera in Europe increased slightly to SEK 1,174 million from SEK 1,152 million.
TeliaSonera has cut its network related investments in Eurasia region to SEK 775 million from SEK 975 million. The telecom network operator is looking for a buyer for its business in Eurasia. The Eurasia region posted 0.5 percent increase in revenue to SEK 5,492 million.

The Capex plan of TeliaSonera for the full year will be around SEK 17 billion.
