T-Mobile Capex in Q2 dips 15% to $940 million

T-Mobile today said its Capex (capital expenditures) declined 14.5 percent to $940 million in the second quarter of 2014 from $1.1 billion.

The company’s main focus areas were network modernization and 4G LTE deployment.

In 2014, capital expenditures will be around $4.3 to $4.6 billion.

T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network covers more than 233 million people in 325 metro areas.

The company, which is competing with big operators such as AT&T and Verizon Wireless, is rapidly deploying Wideband LTE and rolling out its 700 MHz A-Block spectrum beginning this current quarter.

Following the Capex plans, T-Mobile has a nationwide VoLTE (voice over LTE) coverage, covering more than 200 million people.

Focus on increase in speed, capacity, and coverage across the T-Mobile network footprint are rapid and ongoing.

Meanwhile, T-Mobile said its revenue rose 8 percent and service revenue grew of 7.1 percent year-over-year.

It added 1.5 million customers (net).

Tablets drove mobile broadband net additions of 329,000, up by a factor of five versus the prior quarter, said T-Mobile.

John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile, said: “With more than 50 Million customers, 1.5 million customers added this quarter and 5 quarters in a row of over 1 million net new customers — we are proud to be the fastest growing wireless company in America, with the fastest 4G LTE network.”
